Same Day 📓

An ant crawls across a newspaper photo and I have writer's block.

I’ve come up with a brilliant scheme to combat writer’s block while getting to work on my own backed-up archives. I touched on this a few entries ago, but I didn’t actually follow my own advice. Instead, I wandered around Medium, reading writers young as my grandchildren describing their own systems for getting on with the job. Those systems involve paper and pen and filing cards, which I’ve been exploring the past few days. And yet here, all the while, the solution was within my own hard covers.

When stretching for a topic, I merely have to go to the old Perforated Lines, find today’s date in another year, and voila! I’ve added some entries to my topic index, moving me closer to the day when everything is linked up. Ha! I realize it sounds insane, but it’s also comforting in a strange sort of way, so I’m doing it.

This sort of day in January does call for a nice French Onion Soup, and there’s a recipe under the link. The January in the journal was a California January, with nary a nip in the air. Plus, when I made that soup back in 2001, my own husband had not yet told me that he had decided to become a strict Kosher eater. Beef broth in a buttery base has since been banished, and I do miss it. However, one’s religion is important to one; one’s marriage even more important. 🐔
